Smart zooms

Movement a viewer feels without noticing

Zooms on a timer are worse than no zooms. The point of a move is to mark something, and a move that happens every eight seconds marks nothing.

Part of Um Out Plus. Included in the 7-day trial.

Placed where something changes

Um Out looks for the points where the content turns: a new idea, an edit, a shift in energy. A move there reads as intent. A move in the middle of a flat sentence reads as a mistake.

Most of the work is knowing when not to move at all, which is why the number of beats it proposes across a long stretch is small.

Ordinary keyframes

Each zoom is written as Motion keyframes on the clip, so the easing, amount, and timing are all yours to change afterwards. Nothing is rendered in and nothing depends on Um Out still being installed.

Questions people ask

How many zooms will it add?

Fewer than you expect. Three across twelve minutes is a normal result, because restraint is the whole design.

Can I remove one?

Delete its keyframes. They are ordinary Premiere keyframes.
